At DHC, we know that delivering outstanding care begins with listening to and supporting our people.
Our annual staff survey is a key part of this commitment. Modelled on the official NHS Staff Survey, it enables us to track our progress year-on-year, understand the lived experience of our workforce, and benchmark ourselves against NHS providers nationally.
This year’s survey ran from November 2023 to January 2024 and achieved a 45% response rate, with 136 members of staff participating across clinical, administrative, and managerial roles.
84% of staff said they would recommend DHC to friends or family needing care – Higher than the NHS benchmark
69% of staff said they feel safe to speak up about concerns – Higher than the NHS benchmark.
60% of respondents would recommend DHC as a place to work – Higher than the NHS benchmark.
The survey data is already shaping actions at team, service, and organisational levels. We are:
- Expanding leadership development to empower managers to create inclusive, high-performing teams.
- Enhancing internal communication to ensure greater visibility of organisational goals and opportunities for input.
- Strengthening our approach to wellbeing, including reviewing workload expectations and mental health support.
- Developing clearer career progression pathways to improve retention and job satisfaction.
- Expand our flu vaccination offering to make it as inclusive as possible, considering our Surrey-wide presence.
We are grateful to all colleagues who contributed to the survey and shared their perspectives. Their voices are essential in helping us make DHC not only a place where excellent care is delivered, but also a place where people can thrive.
