DHC Consultant-led outpatient services

At DHC we aim to provide quality healthcare in a local setting for the benefit of patients.

About DHC

DHC is an organisation formed in 2004 by local GPs to provide high quality, local and timely outpatient appointments initially for patients of the Dorking practices. In recent years we have widened our mission to provide services for patients throughout Surrey and Sussex. Outpatient services are available at Dorking Hospital and at Holmhurst Medical Centre, Redhill.

We are an accredited AQP (Any Qualified Provider) and CQC (Care Quality Commission) registered organisation. All our activity is provided under a standard NHS contract with the local commissioning organisation (Surrey Downs CCG).

Our values are to:

  • Foster a culture of patient trust in our service
  • Put the patient at the centre of their care
  • Encourage continuous improvements in the quality of care

Our aims are to:

  • Increase the range of services provided by DHC
  • Make sure that patients are seen locally
  • Reduce waiting times for appointments
  • Ensure that almost all appointments are with a consultant
  • Attract experienced and dynamic consultants to work with us
  • Develop a close working arrangement between Surrey GPs and the consultants

Equality, Inclusion & Diversity (EID)

We believe our strength comes from the differences in who we are and how we think. Diversity and inclusion starts at the top of our organisation with the DHC Board of Directors which has recently appointed two female members and where 33% of members are BME.

In our Annual Staff Survey 2019, 100% of BME respondents stated they believe DHC acts fairly regarding career progression/promotion, regardless of ethnic background, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability or age.

DHC is committed to ensuring that EID is embedded across our organisation for staff, patients, carers and visitors. The Summary Reports below details our implementation of the Equality Delivery System.

To ensure that we continually improve implementing equality and diversity, our policies and processes are under regular review via dedicated EID working groups.
