The Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) tract consists of the gall bladder, liver, pancreas, oesophagus, stomach and small bowel. Diseases of these organs sometimes means that surgery is required and this is usually performed under the care of a General Surgeon who has a specialist interest in Upper GI Surgery. Many conditions will also require the assistance of Gastroenterologists (physicians) and specialist nurses, and our consultants work closely together to decide on the best care for you.
